Outpatient Treatment for Bipolar Disorder

That Helps When Weekly Therapy Isn’t Enough.

IOP is an outpatient program of structured, consistent therapy and clinical support for people living with bipolar disorder and mood instability. The program is designed to help stabilize mood episodes without requiring hospitalization or stepping away from daily life.

Our virtual program is available for eligible patients nationwide.

Who We Treat

Our program is designed to provide intensive treatment for people needing to stabilize symptoms of bipolar disorder and related mood conditions, including:

  • Bipolar I and Bipolar II disorder
  • Rapid cycling mood episodes
  • Depressive episodes within bipolar disorder
  • Mixed states and mood instability
  • Anxiety disorders and related mood challenges
  • Other significant mood-related conditions

We do not provide treatment for patients experiencing active psychosis, psychiatric emergencies requiring inpatient care, or primary substance use disorders that need addiction treatment. In most cases, Medicare and Medicaid will not cover the services that IOP provides.

Bridging the Gap In Mental Health Treatment

You know your mood episodes are affecting your life — your relationships, your work, your ability to get through the day. But you can’t step away from everything for inpatient care. And one therapy session a week isn’t enough to help you navigate the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

We know how exhausting it can be to manage bipolar disorder without the right level of support. We created IOP Services to bridge that gap.

Structured Support That Fits Your Life

More Support Than Weekly Therapy

You receive 9 hours of structured therapy each week, offering constant support and skill-building beyond what once-a-week therapy can offer.

You Stays With Current Providers

We coordinate your treatment with their current therapist or psychiatrist to help stabilize symptoms while continuing their broader treatment plan. The program lasts around 12 weeks for most people.

Flexible Virtual Care for You

With virtual treatment, you can receive intensive mental health support to recover and regain stability, while keeping up with your schoolwork, after-school job, and extracurricular activities.

Have Questions About Insurance or Payment?

Payment Options

If you do not currently have insurance coverage or if we are out-of-network with your provider, please reach out to our team. We can discuss flexible payment options or help you explore available financial resources. Note: In most cases, Medicare and Medicaid will not cover the services that IOP provides.

The fastest way to get started in our program is to contact us so we can verify your insurance coverage (we can typically verify within 24 hours). We can then help determine whether our Intensive Outpatient Program is a good fit.

To begin, we typically need only a few details from your insurance card, such as your:

  • Insurance provider
  • Plan type
  • Coverage dates

Our team is happy to answer questions about insurance coverage, benefits verification, and treatment options.

Contact us to learn how your health insurance coverage may apply to our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
