Intensive Care Without Interrupting Your Life
You don’t have to keep feeling like you’re in this by yourself or aren’t getting any better. We provide structured mental health treatment for people who need more support than weekly therapy but do not require inpatient care.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) helps people stabilize during difficult periods while they continue to live at home, work, attend school, and remain connected to their support systems.
When you work with us, our goal is for you or your loved one to leave the program more stable, more confident, and better equipped to manage life’s challenges.
Supporting People When They Need More
Many people who experience severe anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, or mood instability fall into a difficult gap in mental health care. Weekly therapy is often no longer enough, but inpatient treatment can feel overwhelming or unnecessary.
Our program provides a practical treatment option that offers more structure and support without disrupting someone’s everyday life.
Through structured group therapy, experienced clinicians, and a carefully designed program model, we help people stabilize their symptoms and move forward with confidence.
Bridging the Gap in Mental Health Care
Our Intensive Outpatient Program was built to bridge the gap between traditional outpatient therapy and hospital-based inpatient care.
Generally speaking, participants attend about 9 hours of structured group therapy per week, often over the course of around 12 weeks.
This structure provides the time and continuity we need to:
1
Identify triggers
Recognize what causes symptoms to intensify
2
Develop Strategies
Build healthier coping mechanisms
3
Strengthen Skills
Improve stress management
4
Stabilize symptoms
Regain control and balance
5
Make progress
Move forward with confidence
High-Quality, Focused Mental Health Care
While many outpatient care programs focus primarily on substance use treatment, IOP Services specializes in mental health care for anxiety, mood, and trauma-related conditions.
Our program emphasizes:
- Small therapy groups (typically no more than nine participants per group)
- Consistent clinicians who guide each group throughout treatment
- Thoughtful group composition that encourages productive discussion
- Evidence-informed therapeutic approaches
This intentional structure creates a safe and supportive environment where participants can actively engage in the treatment process.

A Supplemental Level of Care
Our programs are designed to support, not replace, existing mental health care.
Many participants continue working with their personal therapist or psychiatrist while attending our program. IOP provides additional structure and therapeutic support during periods when symptoms become more difficult to manage.
This collaborative approach helps many people stabilize their symptoms and build practical skills while still maintaining support from their existing providers.
Mental health challenges can intensify quickly, and finding the right support at the right time can make a meaningful difference.
A Proven Treatment Model
The Intensive Outpatient Program model is a nationally recognized level of mental health care and is often covered by most commercial insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, TRICARE, Aetna, and more.
IOP Services has been providing structured IOP treatment for years and was among the first programs in Alabama dedicated specifically to mental health IOP services.
Today, we are continuing to expand access to care through both in-person and virtual treatment options.
